...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT EDGECOMBE...SOUTHEASTERN HALIFAX
AND NORTHEASTERN WILSON COUNTIES THROUGH 200 AM EDT...

At 135 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Roxobel to 7 miles southeast of Elm City.
Movement was east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Tarboro, Scotland Neck, Princeville, Pinetops,
Macclesfield, Hobgood, Conetoe, Speed, and Leggett.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
