Routine Fire Wx Fcst (With/Without 6-10 Day Outlook)

Issued by NWS Denver/Boulder, CO
216 FNUS55 KBOU 020953 FWFBOU Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO 353 AM MDT Sun Jun 2 2024 .DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Breezy westerly winds are expected to develop today as westerly flow aloft increases with a system passing north of Colorado. Isolated high-based showers and storms will be possible, mainly over northern Colorado with a few being severe. A cold front/convective outflow will cause winds to shift to the north mid to late afternoon with gusts to 40 mph. With fuels continuing to remain above critical thresholds as greenup is in place, no critical fire weather conditions are expected, however, elevated fire weather conditions are likely as warming temperatures drop relative humidities into the low teens across portions of Park, Clear Creek, and Gilpin Counties. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Monday through Thursday...Mostly dry and unseasonably warm weather will prevail through the period, with the exception of Monday night when scattered showers and isolated storms have now entered the forecast. There has also been a trend toward windier weather for Tuesday, which could lead to elevated fire weather conditions especially where fuels are starting to dry under the persistent warm and dry conditions. Minimum humidity levels will drop into the teens in all but mountain locales each day, with only moderate humidity recovery at night. ...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds... ...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds... ...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid... ...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone groups and may not match the actual forecast values shown in those groups...
