KCOS...MVFR ceilings in low stratus is occurring off and on this
morning due to very weak but moist east-southeasterly winds. Low
clouds look to break up by 12Z or so this morning at the latest.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely over and near KCOS later this
afternoon, especially between 22Z and 01Z, with reduced ceilings and
visibilities, lightning, and gusty and erratic winds all possible.
KPUB..VFR conditions are likely for the next 24 hours. Easterly
winds could lead to brief periods of MVFR ceilings early this
morning, though confidence was too low to include in the TAF at this
time. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the vicinity of
station throughout this afternoon and this evening, mainly between
21Z and 02Z. A storm or two could move over station as well, though
confidence is once again low at this time.
KALS...VFR conditions are expected for the next 24 hours. A few
showers may be possible Wednesday afternoon across the San Luis
Valley, though the chances of any storms moving over or near the
station are low at this time.

.AVIATION...KSLC...Cold front will pass across northern Utah late
this morning. S winds initially at the terminal will begin to turn
to the SW around 14Z, to the west between 15Z-16Z and finally to the
NW around 18Z and become gusty in the afternoon with gusts around
25kts. Isolated showers between 21Z and 02Z capable of producing
gusty, erratic winds. Winds will most likely remain north to
northwest tonight with only about a 20% chance for light south winds
returning around 12Z.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...A cold front will move across
northern Utah and SW Wyoming this morning before settling across
central Utah this afternoon and evening. Abrupt wind shift to the N-
NW will accompany the cold frontal passage, with gusts in the 20-30kt
range common. Showers and a few thunderstorms will develop along and
behind the front, and these will be capable of producing microbursts
and gusty and erratic outflow winds. Areas from Delta to Moab across
central Utah have the highest probability for these winds, but the
risk extends as far north as areas near the Idaho border and as far
south as a Cedar City to Bryce Canyon line.

VFR conditions expected throughout the period for all TAF sites.
Light winds and increasing mid to upper level clouds throughout
the morning timeframe. Winds will increase after 18-19Z with
gusts up to 25kts possible at all locations. Widely scattered
rain showers and isolated thunderstorms expected after this
point as well, west to east through around 01-04Z as it exits
east. RKS will be south of the activity and remain dry
throughout the period. Otherwise, scattered mid level clouds and
decreasing winds after this point into the overnight hours
through the end of the period Thursday morning.

Thunderstorm activity has ended across the area, but a modest
low-level jet is kicking up over the plains that will bring
occasionally gusty southerly winds. This flow in a fairly moist
environment may allow for some low clouds and/or fog to form
near KCYS or KSNY. The probability is too low to add as a
prevailing group, but there is about a 30% probability of IFR at
KCYS and 15% at KSNY between now and 12-13z.
Another round of thunderstorms is expected Wednesday afternoon.
this is expected to start in WY around 20z and move into the NE
panhandle around 21-22z. Most of this activity should be
concluded by around 02z. The highest confidence in t-storm
impacts is at KSNY, but have VCTS in for most other terminals.
Storms will have the potential to produce gusty winds, brief
MVFR/IFR with heavy rainfall, and hail.

Winds will become southerly overnight as moisture advection
continues. Am watching for some patchy fog/stratus potential
around sunrise due to the continued moisture advection, recently
saturated boundary layer and light winds. At this time KGLD may
be the only terminal affected. Winds will remain southerly
throughout the day with sustained breezy winds around 20 knots
continuing. Another round of storms perhaps severe moves into W
Kansas after 00Z Thursday. Confidence isn`t as high at KMCK so
will leave the mention out for now.

VFR conditions are forecast to start this TAF cycle. Some gusty
winds may continue for a few hours but they should decrease to 15
kts or less in a few hours. Low clouds will move in at the TAF
sites near 12z through around 18z and MVFR ceilings are forecast.
Winds during the daytime hours will be out of the southeast.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible at the terminals late in
this TAF cycle, but confidence is not high enough to mention at
this time.

Isolated showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two will continue
to be possible east of the central mountain chain through the late
night hours, but the main concern will be widespread low clouds
producing MVFR and localized IFR conditions for the remainder of
tonight until mid morning Wednesday. These low clouds are likely
to push into Santa Fe with MVFR conditions for a few hours around
sunrise. The worst of the ongoing gusty easterly gap wind at KSAF,
KABQ, and Carrizozo should occur over the next couple hours, then
wind speeds will trend gradually weaker. Scattered to isolated
showers and thunderstorms will develop along and east of the
Sangre de Cristo Mountains Wednesday afternoon and evening, and
also across the east central and southeast plains. Isolated and
mostly dry virga showers and thunderstorms will also be found
elsewhere across the northern mountains and upper Rio Grande
Valley Wednesday afternoon with brief and localized dry
microburst wind gusts potentially reaching up to 45 KT including
KSAF, Espanola, and KSKX.
