The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...

  Open Waters from Winthrop Harbor to Wilmette Harbor out to Mid
Lake...

* Until 930 PM CDT.

* At 823 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing
  waterspouts were located along a line extending from 28 nm
  northeast of Harrison-Dever Crib to 15 nm east of Wilmette Harbor,
  moving east at 25 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and small
           hail.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly open waters.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, small hail, high waves, dangerous
lightning, and heavy rain are possible with these storms.
