Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
339 PM PDT Wed May 22 2024

.DISCUSSION...
The marine layer will remain dominant on the coastal side of the
mountains through the week, with relative cool and moist conditions. The
marine layer will deepen through Friday and push further inland
compared to the last couple of days. Over the mountains and interior,
humidities will improve from Wednesday, but minimums will still lower
into the 20 to 40 percent range each day. Onshore winds will increase as
well, with gusts of 20 to 40 mph common, strongest in the Antelope
Valley. Some northwest winds will form Friday Night over the mountains
and southwest Santa Barbara County.

A low pressure system will pass to the east later Saturday and Sunday.
This will bring cooling and more night-time northwest winds to the
interior areas and possibly more sunshine to the coastal areas. While
unlikely, there is a low chance for a shower or thunderstorm over the
mountains. Widespread warming and lowering of the marine layer will
follow for most of next week, including Memorial Day.
