...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 700 PM EDT
FOR SOUTH CENTRAL CARROLL COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL MARYLAND...

MARYLAND AND SOUTHEASTERN FREDERICK COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL
MARYLAND...

At 639 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Mount Airy, or
near Damascus, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to
         fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage
         homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed
         trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured
         light objects may become projectiles.

Locations impacted include...
Damascus, Eldersburg, Mount Airy, Sykesville, Poplar Springs, Roxbury
Mills, Lisbon, Glenwood, Woodbine, Glenelg, Gaither, and Watersville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for central and
north central Maryland.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
