002 FNUS54 KMAF 260822 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 322 AM CDT Sun May 26 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /11 AM MDT/ TODAY TO 9 PM CDT /8 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING... .DISCUSSION... Another morning of poor moisture recovery and humidity falling to 5 percent once again this afternoon pair with elevated winds across the western high terrain to result in yet another day of critical to extreme fire weather conditions and a Red Flag Warning has been issued for these areas. Lighter winds are present on Monday but humidity will still fall to critical levels with poor overnight recovery, so one final day of near-critical fire weather is expected out west. Better moisture moves in on Tuesday with light winds keeping a lid on fire concerns for the remainder of the week. Storm chances increase each afternoon for Tuesday and beyond along and east of the dryline. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
