292 FNAK53 PAFG 291231 FWFAFG Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Interior Alaska National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 431 AM AKDT Wed May 29 2024 .DISCUSSION...An easterly wave will be the focus for numerous showers and an increased chance of isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, mainly over the White Mtns/Fortymile Uplands/Upper Chena Basin. Those will congeal into an area of heavier showers tonight as they shift into the valleys and move into the Central Interior. These storms and showers will be wet, and there is a moderate chance for wetting rains across most of the S Interior. Today will be warmest with widespread lower elevation 70 degree readings, then cooler tomorrow over the S Interior with south gap winds through the AK Range. The thermal trough shifts north Thu and chances for wet isolated thunderstorms will then be focused over the Yukon Flats to the Upper Koyukuk Valley. A similar pattern is in place Fri, although it is warming back up with chances for isolated thunderstorms over the SE Interior. Saturday and Sunday look fairly warm with widespread low to mid 70s and chances for wet thunderstorms continuing.
