Brief periods of heavy downpours, small hail and gusty winds have been the primary concern for most of the region. Temperatures are in the upper 50s to lower 60s with south southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph. This afternoon we will see a brief break from the morning showers and storms before a few more pop up over the west and south this afternoon. A few storms may be strong later in the afternoon, but widespread severe weather is not forecast today. Highs will range from the mid 60s north to the mid 70s over the south. Tonight and beyond: Early this evening some lingering showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur over the south, otherwise skies will become partly cloudy to clear overnight. Lows will drop to the upper 40s northeast to the mid 50s over the south. Monday will begin with some clouds around, but an approaching fast moving area of low pressure from the Northern Plains will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms into northern Iowa during the afternoon. A few of the storms may produce small hail and gusty winds as they move east southeast. Lows tonight with clear skies will dip to the 40s to lower 50s once again. Dry weather will return to the region by Tuesday into Wednesday, continuing into Thursday. Generally near normal to slightly above normal temperatures are anticipated through Friday as highs recover to the mid to upper 70s Thursday and fall slightly by Friday. An approaching cold front Friday will bring another periods of showers and thunderstorms across the region; possibly lasting through Saturday. $$ REV
