Winds will continue to trend weaker through today. Since only locally critical fire weather conditions are now forecast for the Central Highlands, the Fire Weather Watch that was in effect there for this afternoon has been cancelled. Moisture will improve over northeast and far east central areas during the first half of the holiday work week with daily rounds of showers and thunderstorms starting Tuesday. Some dry thunderstorms are expected each afternoon and early evening over the western fringes of the moisture, including the Sangre de Cristo Mountains where dry thunderstorms could result in some new fire starts, and dry microbursts could produce brief, localized, and erratic wind gusts up to 50 mph.
