The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southeastern Washington County in eastern North Carolina...
  North central Hyde County in eastern North Carolina...
  Southern Tyrrell County in eastern North Carolina...

* Until 800 PM EDT.

* At 724 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Alligator
  Lake, or 25 miles southeast of Plymouth, moving east at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
           to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Gum Neck, Kilkenny, Killkenny, Fort Landing, and Alligator Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Please send your reports of hail and/or wind damage, including trees
or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office
in Newport at 1-800-889-6889.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for eastern North
Carolina.
