.DISCUSSION...
Today will feature a hot afternoon with highs in the upper 80s
across the lowlands, and a chance for an afternoon shower or
thunderstorm over the mountains, however we cannot rule out
elsewhere.
Weak disturbances ahead of an approaching cold front are likely to
bring showers and thunderstorms by midweek. Thunderstorms on
Wednesday are not expected to be severe, but could produce locally
heavy to intense downpours. Strong wind gusts and small hail also
could be ruled out in isolated instances.
By the time a cold front crosses Thursday, moisture and instability
will already be greatly reduced, so any thunderstorm that manages to
stand up ahead of the front is not expected to be long-lived nor
pose any severe threat.
Cooler weather will follow for Friday and the weekend, with mainly
the chance for an afternoon shower or thundershower beneath a large,
upper-level disturbance swirling about just north of the area.
