URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Winter Precipitation will Continue through the Evening Hours...

.An arctic airmass continues to push into the region. Along
with this surge of cold air, a mixture of freezing rain, sleet
and snow was occuring. Overall accumulations are anticipated to be
from a trace to around one inch with some locations seeing two to
three inches. Ice accumulation will generally range from a trace
to a tenth of an inch.

In addition to the threat of winter precipitation, hazardous wind
chills are expected tonight through Wednesday morning. Wind chill
readings in the single digits to lower teens are anticipated
across the entire region.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST
TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation in the form of freezing rain, sleet
  and snow. Very cold wind chills expected. Plan on slippery road
  conditions. Total snow accumulations from a dusting to one inch
  with a few locations receiving two to three inches. Ice
  accumulations from a light glaze to up to one tenth of an inch.
  Expect wind chills to range from single digits to the upper
  teens.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana, southeast Mississippi
  and southern Mississippi.

* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until midnight. For
  the Wind Chill Advisory, now to 11 AM Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Look for reduced visibilities at times.
  The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30
  minutes to exposed skin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling
from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

  above zero.

* WHERE...Lower Terrebonne, Lower Lafourche, Lower Jefferson,
  Lower Plaquemines and Lower St. Bernard County.

* WHEN...Now to 11 AM Wednesday.
