.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 251 PM CDT Wed May 8 2024

Chamber of commerce type weather expected the next few days with
seasonably mild days and a relatively tame Kansas wind. Surface
convection has exited stage right at mid-afternoon as the cold
front has moved out of our southeast Kansas counties. A
secondary weak front will slide south from Nebraska and
reinforce the modestly cooler/drier (yet seasonably mild) air
across the area for Thursday as sort of a col develops aloft
over Nebraska by Thursday afternoon, between the upper trof
across the Great Lakes and upper low over the Canyonland region
of eastern Utah. The seasonably mild days and cool nights look
to prevail through Friday with a slight warm-up by Saturday
under weak ridging aloft, between another trof moving across
the Great Lakes and upper low center wobbling from the Four
Corners region west into a portion of the Great Basin. The
western conus upper low/trof looks to move slowly eastward
toward and across the central Plains by early next week bringing
modest rain/thunder chances to the area again. Upper flow and
instability combo appear rather modest as well, so risk for
organized deep convection/severe weather looks low as well.
