Issued by NWS Denver/Boulder, CO
028 FNUS55 KBOU 050919 FWFBOU Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO 319 AM MDT Sun May 5 2024 ...HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT... .DISCUSSION...Today and tonight... Near critical fire weather conditions are possible along the urban corridor this afternoon. Humidities drop between 17-20 percent while wind gusts peak this afternoon. Wind gusts up to 45 mph could occur for the mountains and valleys; For the plains, wind gusts up to 50- 55 mph are possible this afternoon and evening. Smoke dispersal conditions reach very good to excellent across the region today. Tonight, relative humidities recover above 40 percent in the urban corridor and above 70 elsewhere. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Monday through Thursday... It will be very windy Monday and Tuesday with lower humidity across the plains. However, it still not clear how dry vegetation is due to a wet period in the latter half of April. At this time, it appears areas over southern Lincoln county have the greatest threat of critical fire condition both days. Meanwhile, there will be periods of snow in the mountains Monday and Tuesday with mainly dry conditions elsewhere. Temperatures will be slightly below seasonal levels. On Wednesday it will be mainly dry with decreasing winds. By Thursday another cool front will move into the area bringing a chance of precip and cooler temperatures. ...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds... ...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds... ...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid... ...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone groups and may not match the actual forecast values shown in those groups...
