Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD
354 PM CDT Wed May 1 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Light winds persist across the area this afternoon as a surface high
pressure system is currently passing through the area. Cloud cover
has also built in aloft which has kept high temperatures a bit
cooler, only warming up to the upper 50s and low 60s. Dew points in
the 30s and 40s are contributing to relative humidity values between
30-50%+ this afternoon. With higher humidity and light winds, low
fire danger is expected. Virga to sprinkles is also expected for the
rest of the daylight hours before additional rain moves into the
area tonight.

Any chance for rain will push east of the area during the morning
hours on Thursday, leaving dry conditions for the rest of the day.
Due to the recent rainfall, high temperatures will remain in the
upper 50s to 60s with dew points in the 40s. This will result in
relative humidity values well above critical fire danger criteria.
With marginally breezy northwest winds in place, low fire danger is
again expected.
