AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WAS PUSHING EASTWARD ACROSS THE
NORTHERN PLAINS REGION THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...CLOUDS WERE
INCREASING...WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. ONE
OF THE STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING ACROSS THE NORTHERN PART OF
THE NEBRASKA PANHANDLE...AND BROUGHT SMALL AMOUNTS OF RAIN TO THE
FAR SOUTHWEST CORNER OF SOUTH DAKOTA. THERE WERE ALSO SOME SHOWERS
THAT SLID OVER THE BLACK HILLS...MISSING CUSTER...BUT BRINGING A
TRACE OF RAIN TO RAPID CITY. OTHERWISE...THE REST OF SOUTH DAKOTA
REMAINED DRY...WITH A MOSTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY SKY ONLY ALLOWING
TEMPERATURES TO FALL INTO THE 50S AT MOST LOCATIONS BY MID EVENING.

HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA THIS AFTERNOON WERE MAINLY IN
THE 60S. THE BLACK HILLS AREA WAS A LITTLE COOLER...WHERE CUSTER
ONLY MADE IT TO 51 DEGREES. ON THE PLAINS...MADISON WAS THE COOL
SPOT...WARMING TO 59 DEGREES. WATERTOWN...SISSETON...PINE RIDGE...
AND THE RAPID CITY WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE WERE ALL A LITTLE
WARMER...HITTING 60. ONE OF THE MILDEST TOWNS TODAY WAS
CHAMBERLAIN...CLIMBING TO 68 DEGREES. WINNER WAS CLOSE BEHIND...
WITH 67.

AT 8 PM CDT / 7 PM MDT...A MOSTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY SKY CONTINUED
OVER SOUTH DAKOTA...WITH LIGHT RAIN PUSHING INTO THE PINE RIDGE
VICINITY. TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE PLAINS WERE MAINLY IN THE 50S...
WITH EXTREMES FROM 49 DEGREES AT WATERTOWN...TO 61 AT WINNER. WINDS
ACROSS MOST OF THE WESTERN HALF OF SOUTH DAKOTA VARIED FROM
SOUTHWEST TO NORTHWEST AT 6 TO 15 MPH. PINE RIDGE WAS WINDIER...WITH
A WEST WIND AT 22 MPH...WITH GUSTS UP TO 43 MPH. MEANWHILE...THE
EASTERN HALF OF THE STATE HAD CALM OR LIGHT SOUTHWEST TO NORTHWEST
WINDS AT 3 TO 6 MPH.
