NORTHWEST WINDS SPREAD EASTWARD ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA OVERNIGHT...AS
HIGH PRESSURE WAS BUILDING IN FROM THE WEST. THERE WERE A FEW RAIN
SHOWERS BETWEEN CHAMBERLAIN AND THE INTERSTATE 29 CORRIDOR...BUT
RAINFALL AMOUNTS WERE RATHER LIGHT. A FEW REPORTS INCLUDED 0.18 INCH
AT CHAMBERLAIN...0.05 AT WHITE LAKE...0.01 AT HURON...A TRACE AT
MITCHELL...A TRACE AT MADISON...AND A TRACE AT SIOUX FALLS. LOW
TEMPERATURES DIPPED INTO THE 30S AND 40S AT MOST LOCATIONS...WITH
SOME VARIATIONS DUE TO CLOUD COVER AND WINDINESS. THE MORNING
FEATURED PLENTY OF SUNSHINE...WITH TEMPERATURES RISING INTO THE 50S
AND LOW 60S BY MID MORNING.

LOW TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA OVERNIGHT RANGED FROM THE 20S
AND 30S IN THE NORTHERN AND BLACK HILLS AREAS...TO THE 40S AND LOW
50S IN THE SOUTHERN PARTS OF THE STATE. ONE OF THE COLDEST PLACES IN
THE BLACK HILLS WAS DEERFIELD...FALLING TO 23 DEGREES. TWO OF THE
COOLER SPOTS ON THE PLAINS WERE PINE RIDGE...WITH 30...AND
MOBRIDGE...WITH 31. TWO OF THE MILDEST CITIES IN THE SOUTHEAST WERE
SIOUX FALLS AND CENTERVILLE...BOTH HOLDING AT 54 DEGREES. THE
YANKTON AIRPORT WAS CLOSE BEHIND...WITH 52.

AT 11 AM CDT / 10 AM MDT...A MOSTLY SUNNY TO SUNNY SKY WAS OVER
SOUTH DAKOTA. TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 50S TO MID 60S. EXTREMES ON
THE HOUR RANGED FROM 53 DEGREES AT CUSTER...ABERDEEN...AND
SISSETON...TO 65 AT SIOUX FALLS. WINDS ACROSS THE WESTERN HALF OF
SOUTH DAKOTA VARIED FROM WEST TO NORTH AT 3 TO 12 MPH. MEANWHILE...
THE EASTERN HALF OF THE STATE HAD NORTHWEST TO NORTH BREEZES AT 13
TO 23 MPH...WITH GUSTS OF 30 TO 33 MPH AT SIOUX FALLS...SISSETON...
AND HURON.
