PRESSURE REMAINED IN CONTROL OF THE WEATHER ACROSS THE NORTHERN
PLAINS REGION. SOUTHEAST TO SOUTH WINDS KEPT TEMPERATURES AND
DEWPOINTS ON THE MILD SIDE FOR LATE SEPTEMBER...LEADING TO SOME
PATCHY FOG IN THE FAR SOUTHEAST CORNER OF SOUTH DAKOTA...CLOSE TO
SIOUX CITY IOWA. PLENTY OF SUNSHINE AFTER SUNRISE ALLOWED FOR A
QUICK WARMUP.

LOW TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA THIS MORNING WERE MAINLY IN THE
MID 50S TO MID 60S. THE BLACK HILLS AREA WAS A LITTLE COOLER...WITH
CUSTER DIPPING TO 53 DEGREES...AND LEAD HITTING 45. ON THE PLAINS...
ACADEMY WAS THE COOL SPOT...SLIPPING TO 51 DEGREES. MILBANK WAS
ALMOST AS COOL...WITH 52. THE CENTRAL THIRD OF THE STATE WAS THE
MILDEST. WINNER WAS ONE OF THE WARMEST PLACES OVERNIGHT...NEVER
FALLING BELOW 66 DEGREES THROUGH SUNRISE. PINNACLES RANGER STATION
AND MOBRIDGE WERE CLOSE BEHIND...BOTH WITH 65.

AT 11 AM CDT / 10 AM MDT...A SUNNY SKY PREVAILED OVER SOUTH DAKOTA.
TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 70S AT MOST LOCATIONS. ACROSS THE
PRAIRIES...EXTREMES ON THE HOUR RANGED FROM 70 DEGREES AT YANKTON...
TO 80 AT WINNER. IN THE BLACK HILLS...CUSTER WAS UP TO 78. WINDS
STATEWIDE WERE OUT OF THE SOUTH OR SOUTHEAST AT 10 TO 20 MPH. GUSTS
OF 23 TO 29 MPH WERE NOTED AT HURON...MOBRIDGE...AND PINE RIDGE.

A SUNNY AND BREEZY AFTERNOON IS EXPECTED OVER THE MAJORITY OF SOUTH
DAKOTA. HIGHS ACROSS MUCH OF THE PLAINS WILL REACH THE MID 80S TO
LOW 90S...WITH SOUTHEAST TO SOUTH BREEZES AT 15 TO 30 MPH IN AREAS
NEAR AND WEST OF U.S. HIGHWAY 81. FURTHER EAST...HIGHS WILL BE IN
THE LOW 80S...WITH SOUTHEAST WINDS AT 15 TO 20 MPH. IN THE BLACK
HILLS...MAXIMUMS SHOULD REACH THE LOW TO MID 80S...WITH SOUTH WINDS
AT 5 TO 15 MPH.
