A PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKY PREVAILED OVER SOUTH DAKOTA LAST
NIGHT...AS A COOL AND MAINLY DRY AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE SLID ACROSS
THE DAKOTAS...AND INTO MINNESOTA THIS MORNING. THERE WERE A FEW
LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS IN THE BLACK HILLS AND SOUTHWEST HIGH PLAINS OF
SOUTH DAKOTA. AMOUNTS WERE UP TO 0.15 INCH NEAR CUSTER AND NORTH OF
PINE RIDGE. A PARTLY SUNNY TO CLOUDY SKY SINCE SUNRISE OVER MOST OF
THE STATE HAS PREVENTED TEMPERATURES FROM WARMING TOO QUICKLY.
READINGS WERE ONLY IN THE MID 50S TO LOWER 60S BY MID MORNING.

LOW TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA THIS MORNING REMINDED RESIDENTS
THAT AUTUMN IS NOT THAT FAR AWAY...WITH PLENTY OF 40S AND LOWER 50S
OVERNIGHT. ACROSS THE PRAIRIES...LOWS RANGED FROM 42 AT ABERDEEN...
TO 54 AT BOTH YANKTON AND PICKSTOWN. IN THE BLACK HILLS AREA...
MINIMUMS VARIED FROM 41 DEGREES AT NEMO...TO 52 AT EDGEMONT.

AT 11 AM CDT / 10 AM MDT...A PARTLY SUNNY TO CLOUDY SKY CONTINUED
OVER THE MAJORITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA...EXCEPT FOR MOSTLY SUNNY
CONDITIONS EAST OF A LINE FROM VEBLEN TO DESMET. TEMPERATURES WERE
IN THE MID 50S TO MID 60S. EXTREMES ACROSS THE PLAINS ON THE HOUR
RANGED FROM 55 AT ABERDEEN...TO 66 AT PINE RIDGE. IN THE BLACK
HILLS...CUSTER WAS ALSO 55 DEGREES. WINDS ACROSS THE WESTERN THIRD
OF SOUTH DAKOTA WERE OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST OR SOUTH AT 8 TO 13 MPH...
WITH GUSTS UP TO 21 MPH AT PINE RIDGE. MEANWHILE...THE CENTRAL AND
EASTERN THIRDS OF THE STATE HAD CALM OR LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS
MAINLY BETWEEN NORTHEAST AND SOUTHEAST AT 8 MPH OR LESS.

A PARTLY SUNNY TO CLOUDY SKY WILL CONTINUE OVER SOUTH DAKOTA THIS
AFTERNOON...WITH A 25 TO 35 PERCENT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS IN THE NORTHWEST...NORTH CENTRAL...AND CENTRAL
SECTIONS OF THE STATE. HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE PRAIRIES WILL
RANGE FROM THE UPPER 60S IN THE NORTH CENTRAL AND EAST CENTRAL PARTS
OF SOUTH DAKOTA...TO THE LOW AND MID 70S IN THE SOUTH CLOSE TO THE
NEBRASKA BORDER. THE BLACK HILLS AREA WILL BE A LITTLE COOLER...WITH
HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S.
