A NORTHWEST BREEZE BEHIND A WEAK COLD FROM BROUGHT RELIEF IN THE
FORM OF MUCH DRIER AIR INTO SOUTH DAKOTA SUNDAY AFTERNOON. DEW POINT
TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S TO MID 70S ON SATURDAY WERE REPLACED BY DEW
POINTS IN THE 50S AND LOWER 60S SUNDAY AFTERNOON. SKIES WERE MOSTLY
SUNNY OVER THE STATE ALTHOUGH SOME PATCHY CLOUDINESS ACROSS THE
SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST GRADUALLY CLEARED DURING THE AFTERNOON.
ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AFFECTED AREAS BETWEEN WINNER AND
YANKTON PRIOR TO 330 PM CDT. THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF THE BLACK HILLS
ALSO EXPERIENCED SOME CLOUDINESS.

AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID AND UPPER 80S WERE COMMON
ACROSS THE STATE WITH SOME 90 DEGREE READINGS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST
AND NEAR WINNER. SIOUX FALLS WAS THE HOTTEST IN THE STATE WITH 92.
IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE BLACK HILLS CUSTER HIT 82 DEGREES.

AFTERNOON WINDS WERE FROM THE NORTHWEST AND NORTH AT 10 TO 20 MPH
WITH OCCASIONAL HIGHER GUSTS. WIND VELOCITIES WERE LIGHTER NEAR THE
WESTERN BORDER HOWEVER.

AT 8 PM CDT SOUTH DAKOTA SKIES WERE CLEAR WITH TEMPERATURE EXTREMES
OF 79 DEGREES AT WATERTOWN TO 85 AT MITCHELL. IN THE BLACK HILLS
CUSTER WAS SUNNY AND 73 DEGREES.

THE EXTREME HEAT FROM JULY 1936 SHIFTED TO NORTHERN SOUTH DAKOTA
WITH MANY AREAS NEAR OR EXCEEDING 110 DEGREES. SOME OF THE HOTTER
LOCATIONS INCLUDE...

115 DEGREES AT ABERDEEN...LEMMON AND TIMBER LAKE
114 DEGREES AT BRITTON...COTTONWOOD...DUPREE...EUREKA...MCINTOSH AND
    MOBRIDGE
113 DEGREES AT GANN VALLEY...IPSWICH...LUDLOW AND SISSETON
112 DEGREES AT FAITH...FAULKTON...HILLAND AND ONIDA
111 DEGREES AT CAMP CROOK...GETTYSBURG...HIGHMORE AND MELLETTE
110 DEGREES AT KENNEBEC...NEWELL AND SPEARFISH
