.SHORT TERM...TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT
ISSUED AT 236 AM MDT SAT SEP 13 2014

AN UPPER RIDGE BUILDING OVER THE WESTERN CONUS WILL LEAD TO
NORTHWESTERLY FLOW ALOFT OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS TODAY AND TOMORROW.
AN UPPER TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED SFC TROUGH/FRONT WILL CROSS THE FORECAST
AREA TODAY. DRY WEATHER IS EXPECTED DUE TO A LACK OF LOW/MID LEVEL
MOISTURE. PASSING CIRRUS MAY SUPPORT A THIN OVERCAST AT TIMES...ESP
NORTHERN AREAS. WEAK CAA WILL LEAD TO BREEZY NORTHWEST WINDS
BEHIND THE SFC TROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. ON SUNDAY...THE SFC TROUGH/FRONT WILL
BE LOCATED TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THE FORECAST AREA. WEAK UPGLIDE
ABOVE THE FRONTAL ZONE MAY BE STRONG ENOUGH TO PRODUCE A FEW
SHOWERS...MAINLY OVER NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA BUT HAVE INCLUDED LOW
POPS OVER A SMALL PORTION OF SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA AS WELL.
EASTERLY UPSLOPE WINDS AND A FEW CLOUDS INDICATE SLIGHTLY COOLER
TEMPERATURES THAN TODAY.

ISSUED AT 236 AM MDT SAT SEP 13 2014

MAINLY DRY WEATHER AND A SLOW WARMING TREND WILL
CONTINUE FOR NEXT WEEK AS AN UPPER RIDGE BUILDS ACROSS THE WESTERN
STATES AND EVENTUALLY MOVES INTO THE PLAINS. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE
BACK TO NEAR AVERAGE LEVELS EARLY NEXT WEEK. AN UPPER LEVEL TROF
WILL CROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS ON FRIDAY...BRINGING A CHANCE OF
PRECIPITATION TO THE AREA.
