Area Forecast Discussion For Western SD and Northeastern WY
National Weather Service Rapid City SD
213 AM MDT Mon Oct 16 2017

.DISCUSSION...(Today Through Sunday)
Issued at 212 AM MDT Mon Oct 16 2017

Broad upper ridge is building over the western half of
the country. At the surface, a trough is pushing into the northern
plains. Under clear skies, winds are light and southwesterly, and
temperatures are in the 30s.

Upper ridging will bring warm and dry weather to the region through
the week. Highs will be in the 70s each day, except Wednesday will
be slightly cooler following the passage of a weak upper wave and
its associated cool front. Some lower 80s will be possible Thursday
and Friday.

A trough will approach the area for the weekend, resulting in cooler
weather and some chances for light rain/snow showers.

.AVIATION...(For the 12Z TAFS Through 12Z Tuesday Morning)
Issued At 210 AM MDT Mon Oct 16 2017

VFR conditions with mostly clear skies will continue through the
period. Breezy conditions will develop over far northwestern South
Dakota this afternoon.

Issued At 212 AM MDT Mon Oct 16 2017

Low relative humidities and gusty winds at some locations are
expected through Friday. Minimum relative humidity values will be
15 to 20% today. However, the areas near 15% across parts of
northeastern WY are not expected to be windy enough for fire
headlines. Tuesday will be slightly drier across the CWA, and
winds might reach criteria across southern Campbell County. Have
issued a Fire Weather Watch for that zone.

WY...Fire Weather Watch Tuesday afternoon for WYZ259.
