...AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT WEST AND NORTHWEST
FACING BEACHES THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...

...DAMAGING WARNING LEVEL SURF LIKELY FOR THE CENTRAL COAST
BEGINNING THIS AFTERNOON...

.A very large and energetic northwest swell spreading into the
coastal waters is expected to arrive on the Central Coast this
afternoon. This new swell will likely bring damaging warning
level surf of 15 to 20 feet with local sets to 25 feet to west and
northwest facing beaches of the Central Coast beginning this
afternoon. The large breaking waves could produce some minor
coastal flooding, mainly of parking lots, especially near the time
of high tides through Saturday.

On west facing beaches south of Point Conception. surf will also
build later today and tonight, peaking at 8 to 12 feet tonight
and Friday. Local sets to 15 feet are possible on exposed west
facing locations such as Ventura Harbor.

...HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PST SATURDAY...
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY HAS EXPIRED...

* SURF AND TIMING...Surf is expected to build today, peaking at
  15 to 20 feet this afternoon through Friday. Local sets to 25
  feet are possible. High surf will slowly subside by Saturday
  evening.

* Impacts...Very large, dangerous and damaging waves with strong
  currents will create an increased risk of drownings. Sneaker
  waves can suddenly wash over previously dry beaches and
  jetties. There will be also a high risk of life-threatening
  rip currents. From this afternoon into Friday, there is an
  increased threat of beach erosion and local flooding of low
  lying areas such as beach parking lots. Dangerous breaking
  waves are expected in and around Morro Bay Harbor.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Warning indicates that dangerous, battering waves
will pound the shoreline. This will result in life-threatening
conditions.

  8 to 12 feet late tonight and Friday. Sets to 15 feet are
  possible at exposed locations such as Ventura Pier. High surf
  will slowly subside by Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...Large, powerful, and dangerous waves with strong
  currents will create an increased risk in drownings. Sneaker
  waves can suddenly wash over previously dry beaches and
  jetties. There will be also a high risk of life-threatening
  rip currents. Damaging breaking waves are possible near the
  entrance of the Ventura Harbor. Local flooding of low lying
  beach parking lots will be possible with the high surf.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught
in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the
current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If
unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY
EVENING...

* HAZARDS...Surf of 3 to 6 feet is expected on west facing
  beaches through Saturday evening. Local sets to 7 feet are
  possible near Rincon Point.

* IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for drowning. Rip
  currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large
  breaking waves can wash people off beaches and rocks...and
  capsize small boats near shore.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Beach Hazards Statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents...longshore currents...sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Swim near a
lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t
swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following
the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or
wave for help.
