...WETTEST JUNE ON RECORD...

IT WAS THE WETTEST JUNE ON RECORD AT THE JUNEAU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
WITH 7.48 INCHES AND TOPPED 2012 OF 6.69 INCHES. THE AIRPORT WAS 4.22
INCHES ABOVE NORMAL AND THAT WAS 230 PERCENT OF NORMAL. THERE WERE THREE
DAYS THAT EXCEEDED 1 INCH OF RAIN WITH 3 DAILY RAINFALL RECORDS ON 8TH,
9TH, AND 20TH. THE 8TH WAS THE WETTEST DAY WITH THE AIRPORT RECEIVING
1.54 INCHES. THERE WERE ONLY 5 DAYS OUT OF THE ENTIRE MONTH THAT NO
PRECIPITATION FELL AT THE AIRPORT.

TEMPERATURES WERE BELOW NORMAL FOR THE MONTH WITH THE SOGGY WEATHER. THE
AVERAGE MEAN TEMPERATURE OF 53.2 DEGREES WAS BELOW NORMAL BY 1.4 DEGREES.
THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 60.0 DEGREES WHICH WAS 2.2
DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE MERCURY TOPPED OUT AT 71 DEGREES ON THE 27TH
MAKING IT THE WARMEST DAY FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE. THE COLDEST OVERNIGHT
TEMPERATURE WAS ON THE 6TH...WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED DOWN TO 39
DEGREES.

THERE WERE A FEW STRONG WEATHER SYSTEMS THAT MOVED ACROSS THE AREA ON THE
7TH, 8TH AND 17TH WITH PEAK WIND SPEEDS FROM 35, 33 AND 39 MPH
RESPECTIVELY. THE WIND DIRECTION WAS GENERALLY OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST WITH
A FEW DAYS OUT OF SOUTHWEST AS A AFTERNOON SEA BREEZE SET UP. THE
WINDIEST DAY AT THE JUNEAU FEDERAL BUILD WAS ON THE 17TH WITH A PEAK
SOUTH WIND OF 43 MPH.
