JUNE BEGAN WITH A PERIOD OF COOL, DAMP WEATHER. RAIN WAS OBSERVED ON
THE FIRST 6 DAYS OF THE MONTH, THOUGH IT DID NOT ACCUMULATE TO MUCH.
BY THE SECOND WEEK OF JUNE, WARM AND HUMID AIR BEGAN MOVING INTO
NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND. AUGUSTA SAW THE TEMPERATURE RISE TO NEAR 90
DEGREES FOR 3 STRAIGHT DAYS FROM THE 11TH THRU THE 13TH. A COLD
FRONT BROUGHT SOME COOLER AIR IN FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE WARM
WEATHER ARRIVED AGAIN WITH SEVERAL MORE DAYS TOPPING 80 DEGREES. THE
WARM, HUMID AIR FINALLY DEPARTED ON THE 26TH WITH COOL AND LESS
HUMID WEATHER LASTING THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH, ALONG WITH
FREQUENT SHOWERS. RAIN FELL ON 7 OF THE LAST 8 DAYS OF THE MONTH.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 64.8 DEGREES WHICH WAS 0.8
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST JUNE ON RECORD WAS IN 1999 WHEN
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 69.5 DEGREES. THE COLDEST WAS ONLY 59.1
DEGREES IN 1968.

A TOTAL OF 2.04 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 1.52 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL. THE HEAVIEST RAIN WAS ON THE 27TH WHEN 0.50 INCHES OF
RAIN FELL. THE DRIEST JUNE ON RECORD WAS IN 1979 WHEN ONLY 0.48
INCHES OF RAIN WAS RECORDED. THE WETTEST WAS IN 1998 WHEN 10.32
INCHES FELL.
