AFTER CONCORD EXPERIENCED ITS SECOND WARMEST MAY ON RECORD, THE
WEATHER PATTERN SHIFTED AS THE CALENDAR TURNED TO JUNE. A STORM
SYSTEM BROUGHT 1.82 INCHES OF RAIN FROM MAY 31 THROUGH JUNE 2 AND
USHERED IN SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER AIR BEHIND IT. THE NEXT WEEK SAW
BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 52 DEGREES ON
JUNE 1 WAS THE COLDEST HIGH TEMPERATURE IN THE MONTH OF JUNE SINCE
1992. IT DID WARM UP AGAIN FOR THE SECOND WEEK OF THE MONTH AS 6
STRAIGHT DAYS WARMED INTO THE 80S. THEN A CONTINUOUS PROGRESSION OF
FRONTAL SYSTEMS BROUGHT ALTERNATING WARMER AND COOLER WEATHER
CULMINATING IN ANOTHER HEAVY RAINSTORM ON JUNE 28TH. THE 1.72 INCHES
OF RAIN RECORDED ON THE 28TH WAS THE MOST RAIN IN A CALENDAR DAY IN
MORE THAN 8 MONTHS.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 63.8 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.1
DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THIS WAS THE COOLEST JUNE SINCE 2009 WHEN THE
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 63.0 DEGREES. THE COOLEST JUNE ON RECORD WAS
1903 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 58.8 DEGREES. THE WARMEST ON
RECORD WAS 1876 WITH AN AVERAGE OF 70.3 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE IN THE MONTH OF JUNE WAS ONLY 75.4
DEGREES. WHILE NOT A RECORD, IT WAS 2.3 DEGREES COLDER THAN THE
AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE IN MAY OF THIS YEAR (77.7 DEGREES). THIS
WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT CONCORD SAW COOLER HIGH TEMPERATURES IN JUNE
THAN IN MAY SINCE 1977. THE ONLY TIME A BIGGER SUCH DISCREPANCY
BETWEEN THE TWO MONTHS WAS OBSERVED WAS IN 1903 WHEN THE AVERAGE
JUNE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 3.6 DEGREES COOLER THAN THE AVERAGE MAY
HIGH TEMPERATURE (68.1 AND 71.7 RESPECTIVELY).

A TOTAL OF 5.30 INCHES OF RAIN FELL IN JUNE WHICH WAS 1.61 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL. THE HEAVIEST RAIN FELL ON THE 26TH THROUGH THE 29TH
WHEN 1.99 INCHES WAS OBSERVED. THE 1.72 INCHES THAT FELL ON THE 28TH
WAS THE GREATEST CALENDAR DAY PRECIPITATION SINCE OCTOBER 16, 2014
WHEN 1.80 INCHES WAS RECORDED. THE WETTEST JUNE ON RECORD WAS 1944
WHEN 10.10 INCHES FELL. THE DRIEST WAS 1913 WITH ONLY 0.10 INCHES.

THROUGH THE END OF JUNE, A TOTAL OF 15.75 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION
HAS FALLEN IN 2015. THIS IS 3.60 INCHES BELOW NORMAL AND THE DRIEST
FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR SINCE 1995 WHEN ONLY 14.44 INCHES WAS
OBSERVED.

THE FOLLOWING DAILY RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED IN JUNE 2015...
