WASHINGTON DC...RONALD REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT...

THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE RANKED AS THE WARMEST FEBRUARY ON
RECORD. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 46.9 SET IN 1976.

MONTHLY PRECIPITATION WAS WELL BELOW NORMAL, AND RANKED AS THE 6TH
DRIEST ON RECORD.

SNOWFALL WAS WELL BELOW NORMAL.

THIS WAS THE 19TH TIME NO MEASURABLE SNOW WAS RECORDED IN FEBRUARY
IN THE WASHINGTON DC AREA, AND THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2004.

THERE WERE SIX DAYS WHERE THE TEMPERATURE REACHED OR EXCEEDED 70
DEGREES THIS FEBRUARY. THIS IS THE SECOND MOST ON RECORD. THE MOST
WAS SEVEN DAYS IN 1976.

THERE WERE THREE DAYS WHERE THE TEMPERATURE DID NOT DROP BELOW 50
DEGREES. THIS IS ALSO THE SECOND MOST ON RECORD. THE MOST WAS FOUR
DAYS IN 1880.

TWO RECORD DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE SET THIS FEBRUARY:
HIGH OF 73 DEGREES ON THE 7TH BROKE THE RECORD OF 64 SET IN 2008
HIGH OF 74 DEGREES ON THE 8TH BROKE THE RECORD OF 68 SET IN 2015.

FOUR RECORD DAILY WARM LOW TEMPERATURES WERE SET THIS FEBRUARY:
LOW OF 48 DEGREES ON THE 7TH BROKE THE RECORD OF 47 SET IN 1904
LOW OF 51 DEGREES ON THE 8TH BROKE THE RECORD OF 42 SET IN 1882
LOW OF 53 DEGREES ON THE 23RD BROKE THE RECORD OF 51 SET IN 1922
LOW OF 54 DEGREES ON THE 24TH BROKE THE RECORD OF 52 SET IN 1975

CLIMATE RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT AT RONALD REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT
SINCE AUGUST OF 1941. ADDITIONAL TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR THE
WASHINGTON DC AREA EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1872. PRECIPITATION
RECORDS EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1871. SNOWFALL RECORDS BEGAN IN
JANUARY OF 1884.
