WITH ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES AND BELOW AVERAGE PRECIPITATION THE MONTH OF MAY
FOR MCGRATH WAS WARM AND DRY. THE TWO DAYS THAT HAD THE TEMPERATURE DROP BELOW 32
DEGREES WERE BOTH IN THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY. THE TEMPERATURES GRADUALLY RISING
THROUGH THE MONTH AND RESULTING IN THE LAST THREE DAYS OF MAY BEING THE THREE
WARMEST. THERE WERE THREE TEMPERATURE RECORDS SET THIS PAST MONTH...ALL FOR HIGHEST
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDED ON THAT DATE. ON THE 17TH THERE WAS A LOW TEMPERATURE
OF 50 DEGREES THIS BROKE A RECORD OF 47 DEGREES SENT IN 1993...THE LOW OF 47
DEGREES ON THE 21ST TIED A RECORD SET IN 2005...AND THE LOW OF 52 DEGREES BROKE THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 51 DEGREES THAT WAS SET IN 2004. THE 0.38 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION FALLING THROUGH THE MONTH ADDED TO THE 0.96 INCHES THAT HAD ALREADY
FALLEN SINCE THE FIRST OF THE YEAR LEFT MCGRATH 3.33 INCHES BEHIND THE NORMAL
AMOUNT FOR THIS TIME. WINDS WERE FOR THE MOST PART LIGHT WITH THE HIGHEST GUST OF
23 KTS AND HIGHEST AVERAGE WIND SPEED OF 9.5 KTS BOTH BEING RECORDED ON THE
15TH...ONLY TWO OTHER DAYS RECORDED GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 20 KTS AND NO OTHER DAYS
RECORDED AN AVERAGE SPEED OVER 7 KTS.
