   ...JUNE WAS MUCH WETTER AND SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL IN OMAHA...

OMAHA EPPLEY AIRFIELD RECEIVED 10.52 INCHES OF RAINFALL DURING THE
MONTH OF JUNE...WHICH WAS THE 5TH WETTEST JUNE ON RECORD IN OMAHA
AND WAS 6.34 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF
73.5 DEGREES WAS 1.4 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.

ACTIVE WEATHER BEGAN EARLY IN JUNE.  AFTER 1.18 INCHES OF RAIN IN
THUNDERSTORMS ON THE 1ST...A SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK ON THE 3RD
BROUGHT 5.30 INCHES OF RAINFALL...WHICH NOT ONLY SET A DAILY RECORD
BUT WAS ALSO THE HIGHEST RAINFALL TOTAL FOR ANY JUNE DAY ON RECORD.
SEVERE WEATHER RAKED THE OMAHA METRO AREA...WITH WIND GUSTS UP TO 72
MILES AN HOUR AS WELL AS HAIL IN AND NEAR THE DOWNTOWN.
THUNDERSTORMS BROUGHT OVER A QUARTER INCH OF RAIN AGAIN ON THE 5TH
AND THE 7TH...BEFORE A WELCOME BREAK IN THE WEATHER ARRIVED FOR MID-
MONTH.  ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES FROM THE 1ST THROUGH THE 6TH WERE
FOLLOWED BY BELOW-NORMAL TEMPERATURES FROM THE 7TH THROUGH THE
13TH...DURING THAT COOL AND DRY WEATHER BREAK.

WARMER TEMPERATURES RETURNED ON THE 14TH...WITH NEAR TO ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES CONTINUING THROUGH MOST OF THE REST OF JUNE.  ACTIVE
WEATHER ALSO RETURNED MID-MONTH...WITH THUNDERSTORMS BRINGING RAIN
ON THE 15TH...THOUGH PRECIPITATION REMAINED NORTH OF OMAHA ON THE
16TH.  THE 20TH THROUGH THE 30TH WAS ESPECIALLY ACTIVE...WITH
THUNDERSTORMS BRINGING MEASURABLE RAIN ON 8 OF THOSE 11 DAYS, WITH
1.88 INCHES ON THE 20TH AND 21ST AND ANOTHER 0.90 ON THE 28TH.

TEMPERATURES IN JUNE REACHED 90 DEGREES OR GREATER ON FOUR
DAYS...BELOW THE AVERAGE OF 6 DAYS...WITH THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE OF
93 DEGREES ON THE 18TH AND 20TH.

IN ADDITION TO THE WET LOCAL WEATHER...CONDITIONS UPSTREAM ALONG THE
MISSOURI RIVER WERE ESPECIALLY WET DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE.  AS A
RESULT...FLOODING OCCURRED ALONG THE MISSOURI RIVER...WITH ELEVATED
RIVER LEVELS NEAR OMAHA FOR SEVERAL DAYS IN MID-JUNE.
