...TWO ROUNDS OF HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED BETWEEN NOW AND THE WEEKEND...
A cold front will slowly push across Illinois tonight accompanied by
showers and thunderstorms. Some of the thunderstorms will be capable
of producing heavy rainfall as they track from southwest to
northeast. Widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain can be expected by
sunrise Thursday morning with the heaviest amounts along and east of
Another very moist storm system will move into the region late
Friday and remain in the area through the weekend. Total rain from
Friday evening through Sunday Night across the area is expected to
generally range from 2 to 4 inches across central and southeast
Illinois with the highest amounts of 3 to 4 inches being southeast
of the Illinois river.
The heavy rain falling on saturated soil from tonight`s storms
will produce rapid runoff and a potential for localized flooding, as
well as river flooding across the region. Stay tuned to a reliable
