...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southeast Missouri,
including the following areas, Carter and Ripley.

* Through Sunday morning

* A few rounds of thunderstorms, with very heavy rainfall, could
develop as early as midday and extend into Saturday evening. In
addition to severe weather, these storms could produce one to
two inches of rain in less than an hour, with isolated higher
  amounts.

* The torrential rainfall will quickly runoff into ditches,
creeks, streams, and larger river systems in Carter and Ripley
counties. Campers and those planning travel on area rivers this
holiday weekend should keep posted the latest weather and seek
higher ground if flooding is expected shortly or occurring.
Camping right next to flowing bodies of water should be
discouraged later today and tonight. Some roadways may also be
weakened due to flood waters earlier in the month, so caution is
advised. Travel on any roadways covered with water should be
  discouraged.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
