FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
444 AM EDT WED MAY 25 2016

...THUNDERSTORMS TODAY WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR GUSTY WINDS...

.DISCUSSION...
QUIET WEATHER IS EXPECTED THIS MORNING...BUT AS A COLD FRONT MOVES
DOWN FROM CANADA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...THE THREAT FOR
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL EXIST. RELATIVELY DRY AIR IN THE
LOWER LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE...INDICATED BY AFTERNOON RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES IN THE 30 PERCENT RANGE...SUGGESTS THE POTENTIAL FOR
GUSTY WINDS WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING. AREAS NORTH OF A SARANAC LAKE TO SAINT JOHNSBURY LINE
WILL HAVE THE BEST POTENTIAL TO SEE ANY STORMS WITH WIND GUSTS IN
THE 40 TO 50 MPH RANGE. ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED
ONCE AGAIN...WHICH WILL HELP CONTRIBUTE TO THE LOWER AFTERNOON
RELATIVE HUMIDITIES. THE SHOWERS AND STORMS COME TO AN END DURING
THE EVENING HOURS TONIGHT AND NO PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED THROUGH
THURSDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE REGION. THURSDAY SHOULD
BE ANOTHER DAY WITH AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES IN THE 30
PERCENT RANGE WITH SOME SPOTS DROPPING INTO THE 25 TO 30 PERCENT
RANGE. EVENTUALLY THE FLOW ALOFT TURNS SOUTHWEST ON FRIDAY AND
CONTINUES RIGHT THROUGH THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. THIS WILL RESULT
IN INCREASED MOISTURE...HIGHER AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES...
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES...AND THE THREAT FOR AFTERNOON AND
EVENING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
