Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
402 AM EDT Wed May 24 2017

.DISCUSSION...

An upper level trough will deepen to our west today and shift east
through our region Thursday. Sufficient moisture, daytime heating
and a surface boundary will contribute to showers, and scattered
thunderstorm activity, some possibly severe, mainly this afternoon
and early evening. A surface low will track from the Midwest to the
NE today through Thursday, allowing drier air to enter our FA
tonight and Thursday. Breezy conditions Thursday, along with much
higher mixing heights. Despite drier air, instability associated
with the upper low will contribute to a few showers, and a possible
thunderstorm, Thursday afternoon.
