Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
222 PM CST Fri Feb 24 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Gusty winds will continue across the area this afternoon and
should diminish around sunset. Rain chances will increase after
sunset across northern Alabama as a cold front moves through the area.
Showers and storms will quickly move east, reaching NW AL between 6
and 8 pm, the I-65 corridor between 8 and 10 pm and NE AL between 10
pm and midnight. This activity will move east of the area after midnight
as the cold front moves through the area. An isolated thunderstorm may
become strong to severe with hail and straight line wind gusts possible.

Winds will become north early on Saturday and filter
colder and drier air into the region. Temperatures will only rise into
the low to mid 50s by Saturday afternoon and with lower dewpoints,
RH values will bottom out in the 35 to 40 percent range, with isolated
locations across the NW reaching 30 percent. Even drier conditions
are expected on Sunday, as minimum RH values lower into the 25 to 30
percent range. Winds will shift to the south late on Sunday and begin
moisture return into the area.

The next chance for wetting rains will begin on Monday as an upper
level disturbance moves into the region. Numerous showers, with isolated
thunderstorms will be possible through much of the day and into the
morning hours on Tuesday. A stronger system will move through overnight
Tuesday and bring an isolated potential for strong thunderstorms, though
uncertainty on timing and impacts remain high.

Fog potential over the next few days: None expected.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: No fire weather concerns at this time.
