FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
251 PM PDT WED MAY 27 2015

...ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES TO CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A WEAK UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL LEAD TO WARM
AND DRY CONDITIONS FOR MOST OF THE DISTRICT THROUGH SATURDAY. A
SHALLOWER MARINE LAYER SHOULD LIMIT THE EXTENT OF LOW CLOUDS EACH
MORNING. THIS WILL RESULT IN ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR MUCH OF
THE DISTRICT THROUGH SATURDAY. EXPECT INSTABILITY TO INCREASE AS
TEMPERATURES WARM UP...WITH CUMULUS BUILDUPS EACH AFTERNOON ON THE
CASCADE CREST.

.DISCUSSION...ONSHORE FLOW IS WEAKER TODAY THAN IT HAS BEEN THE
PAST SEVERAL DAYS...LEADING TO WARMER AND DRIER CONDITIONS FOR
MUCH OF THE DISTRICT. AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL
CONTINUE TO BUILD INTO OREGON AND WASHINGTON AS LOW PRESSURE EAST
OF THE CASCADES DEPARTS TOWARD THE ROCKIES. THIS IS LEADING TO A
SHALLOWER MARINE LAYER...AND SHOULD LIMIT THE EXTENT OF MORNING
LOW CLOUDS THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. THEREFORE EXPECT THE WARMING
TREND TO CONTINUE FOR MOST OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST...WITH THE
IMMEDIATE COAST BEING THE ONLY EXCEPTION. AS INLAND VALLEYS PUSH
INTO THE 80S...EXPECT A THERMAL TROUGH TO DEVELOP ALONG THE
WILLAMETTE VALLEY...ADDING A BIT OF INSTABILITY TO THE LOWER
LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE BY THE END OF THE WEEK. ADDITIONALLY...
JUST ENOUGH INSTABILITY WILL OCCUR EACH AFTERNOON FOR SOME
CUMULUS BUILDUPS ALONG THE CASCADE CREST...WITH A VERY SLIGHT
CHANCE OF THUNDER ALONG THE CREST EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY.
LOW PRESSURE MAY APPROACH FROM THE SOUTHWEST SUNDAY OR MONDAY...
INCREASING THE CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ESPECIALLY IN
THE CASCADES. WEAGLE
