Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest and South-Central
Arizona and Southeast California
National Weather Service Phoenix AZ
317 AM MST Thu Apr 27 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT ON FRIDAY DUE TO STRONG WINDS...LOW
RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND HIGH FIRE DANGER FROM THE LOWER COLORADO
RIVER VALLEY EASTWARD INTO SOUTHERN GILA COUNTY...

.DISCUSSION...
Expect dry northwest flow today with high temperatures in the 90s
and afternoon west breezes. On Friday, a strong upper low and
associated cold front will move through the area bringing cooling
along with strong gusty winds and much lower humidity. Northwest
winds will gust over 40 mph by Friday afternoon and with RH values
lowering into the single digits, dangerous fire weather
conditions will develop from the lower Colorado River valley
eastward by late morning to early afternoon. Also, on Friday
afternoon a slight chance for thunderstorms will be in the
forecast for higher terrain areas to the east of Phoenix.

...Thunderstorms imply gusty winds...

Note...Additional Fire Weather Forecast information can be found
in the Area Forecast Discussion. See product PHXAFDPSR.
