Ohio River Basin Hydrometeorological Discussion
Ohio River Forecast Center, Wilmington, Ohio
1230 PM EDT Monday, August 3, 2015

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...
An area of low pressure and accompanying frontal boundary will move into the
Ohio Valley today resulting in scattered showers and thunderstorms this
afternoon and evening. A more significant weather disturbance will begin
to impact the basin around midweek and more so on Thursday, with possibly
widespread, heavy rainfall activity.

...FLOOD POTENTIAL DISCUSSION...
Minor flooding lingers in the western basin and will continue to do so for
the next few days. Otherwise the potential for additional river flooding
is currently low, but will increase later this week. The greatest risk will
be flash flooding.

...24-HR OBSERVED PRECIPITATION USED IN TODAY`S RIVER FORECASTS...
A compact yet potent thunderstorm complex brought 0.25" to 1.50" of rain
to northern/eastern IN, western/northern OH, and north-central KY. Otherwise,
the rest of the basin was dry.

...48-HR FORECAST PRECIPITATION USED IN TODAY`S RIVER FORECASTS...
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast across much of the basin, although
the most concentrated activity should be in the middle and eastern Ohio
Valley. Forecast amounts in these areas are 0.25" to 1.00" with locally
heavier totals possible in thunderstorms. Under 0.25" is forecast across
the far northern and far southern basin.
