SUBJECT: Discontinuance of Rio Grande Forecast Point near Lajitas,
Texas, effective Dec 18, 2017.

Effective Monday, December 18, 2017, the National Weather
Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Midland/Odessa,
Texas, in cooperation with the West Gulf River Forecast Center
(WGRFC) in Fort Worth, Texas, will be discontinuing the Rio Grande
Forecast Point near Lajitas, Texas (TGAT2).  The gage site was
established 1 mile west-northwest of Lajitas, Texas at Lajitas
Crossing by the NWS in 1995.

With no automated river gage present, and no regular streamflow
measurements conducted by the USGS, accurate river forecasts are
not possible at TGAT2.  Therefore, it is to be discontinued as a
river forecast point.
