...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SOUTHWESTERN RAY...WEST CENTRAL
LAFAYETTE AND EASTERN JACKSON COUNTIES UNTIL 745 PM CDT...

At 709 PM CDT, trained weather spotters reported a strong
thunderstorm near Lake Lotawana, moving northeast at 30 mph.

Nickel size hail will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Independence, Lee`s Summit, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Oak Grove,
Richmond, Lexington, Buckner, Lake Lotawana, Lone Jack, Orrick,
Wellington, Lake Tapawingo, Henrietta, Sibley, Levasy, Napoleon,
Bates City, Camden and Fleming.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 70 in Missouri between mile markers 17 and 33.
 Interstate 470 near mile marker 14.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
