...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM CST
FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Winter
Storm Warning...which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM CST
Friday. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will occur tonight.

* Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected with the
  heaviest amounts north.

* Visibility 1/4 mile in heavy snow. Locally...blizzard conditions
  could develop in open areas tonight and Friday.

* North winds of 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts will cause
  significant blowing and drifting snow.

* Travel will be very difficult to impossible...especially
  tonight. Ranchers should take precautions to protect young
  livestock.

Precautionary/Preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring.  Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food,
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
