URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...LIGHT ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL MAY LINGER OVERNIGHT INTO TUESDAY
MORNING MAINLY ABOVE 3000 FEET...

.TEMPERATURES CONTINUED TO TUMBLE AS COLDER AIR MOVED INTO THE
REGION THIS AFTERNOON. AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL SWEEP
SOUTHEAST TONIGHT...AND SHOULD CAUSE A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SNOW
SHOWERS...ESPECIALLY FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS ALONG THE TENNESSEE
AND NORTH CAROLINA LINE. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY HAS BEEN
EXTENDED OVERNIGHT THROUGH NOON EST TUESDAY...WITH AN ADDITIONAL 1
TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW ACCUMULATION EXPECTED ABOVE 3000 FEET.

FOR AREAS OUTSIDE OF THE ADVISORY...A DUSTING TO NEAR 1 INCH OF
SNOW ACCUMULATION IS POSSIBLE...MAINLY OVER NORTHERN PARTS OF THE
CUMBERLAND PLATEAU AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWESTERN VIRGINIA.

  EXPECTED OVERNIGHT...WITH TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 7 INCHES
  POSSIBLE...MAINLY AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 3000 FEET. ISOLATED HIGHER
  AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS...SUCH AS
  MOUNT LECONTE.

* TIMING...SNOW SHOWERS LIKELY TO INCREASE AT TIMES OVERNIGHT
  BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO FLURRIES AFTER TUESDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...UNTREATED ROADWAYS...BRIDGES...OVERPASSES...AS WELL
  AS SIDEWALKS AND DECKS MAY BECOME SNOW COVERED AND HAZARDOUS.
  BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS IF HAVE TO GO OUTDOORS OR TRAVEL TONIGHT AS
  TEMPERATURES FALL INTO THE 20S.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING...BUT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
LIGHT. DRIVING AND WALKING MAY BE DIFFICULT ON UNTREATED ROADWAYS
AND SIDEWALKS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED
VISIBILITIES. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME
TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.
