...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM FRIDAY TO 4 AM PDT
SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow, which is in effect from 7 AM Friday to 4 AM
PDT Saturday.


* Timing: Snow will spread into the Tahoe Basin early Friday
  morning and continue through Friday night. The most intense
  snowfall will occur in the afternoon and evening.

* Snow Accumulations: 10 to 18 inches above 7000 feet with up to 6
  inches elsewhere. Heaviest snow along and west of Highway 89.

* Snow Levels: Near lake level Friday morning then rising to 6500
  feet during the day. Snow levels then fall back to lake level
  Friday evening.

* Winds: Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

* Lake Tahoe Wave Heights: 1 to 4 feet with highest waves from mid
  lake to the north and east shores.

* Impacts: Snow and gust winds will impact Sierra passes Friday.
  Snow will then begin to impact roads at lower elevations late
  Friday and Friday night. Lake waters will be rough and choppy.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during
periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to
reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM FRIDAY TO 4 AM PDT
SATURDAY ABOVE 5500 FEET...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory above 5500 feet for snow, which is in effect from 4 PM
Friday to 4 AM PDT Saturday.


* Timing: Rain and higher elevation snow will begin Friday morning
  and continue Friday night as snow levels fall.

* Snow Accumulations: 6 to 12 inches above 6500 feet with up to 4
  inches down to 5000 feet. Heaviest snow south and west of
  Susanville.

* Snow Levels: 5500 feet Friday lowering to valley floors by late
  Friday night.

* Impacts: Snow will cause hazardous driving conditions for roads
  near and above 5500 feet including Yuba Pass and Fredonyer
  Summit.
