...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central and south central Virginia, including
  the following counties and independent cities, in central
  Virginia, Chesterfield, City of Colonial Heights and Henrico. In
  south central Virginia, City of Petersburg and Prince George.

* WHEN...Until 445 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 245 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain.
    Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in
    the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain has fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
    over the area through 4 am EDT. This additional rain will
    result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Chester, Fort Gregg-
    Adams, Virginia State University, Ettrick, Bellwood,
    Petersburg National Battlefield and Varina.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
