Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95-100 mph Path Length /statute/: 5.3 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: April 3, 2024 Start Time: 404 PM EDT Start Location: Near Luttrellville in Richmond County, VA Start Lat/Lon: 37.933/-76.6004 End Date: April 3, 2024 End Time: 410 PM EDT End Location: Near Lottsburg in Northumberland County, VA End Lat/Lon: 37.9731/-76.5075 The tornado touched down on 4/3/2024 at 404 pm EDT in Richmond County near Luttrellville Lane and Chevy Place. A storage shed was demolished and numerous trees were uprooted consistent with EF-0 damage. The tornado quickly moved northeast across Ridge Road and through the Quinton Oaks Gulf course where additional hardwood trees were uprooted with a storage shed being destroyed. Damage consistent with 95-100 mph EF-1 damage was observed on Azalea Lane and Owl Town Road where numerous hardwood trees were snapped and two houses saw portions of their roofs lifted off. The tornado then continued northeast, crossing US 360 near Glebe Lane where roof damage was observed on houses and additional trees were uprooted. The tornado lifted just north of US 360 and east of Glebe Lane around 410 pm EDT. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
