...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Albany New York broke two records of interest. While a new record
high of 90 degrees was set for this date, this also marks the
third consecutive day of 90 degrees or higher which is defined as
a heat wave for this part of the country. A look back at records,
dating back to 1874, indicates that this also marks the latest
heat wave ever recorded in a calendar year. In addition, this is
the first heat wave ever recorded in the the autumn season for
Albany New York.

The previous latest heat wave recorded was from September 21-23
in 1895. The autumnal equinox was on September 23, 1895. While the
90 degree mark has been obtained on single dates past September
26, we have never observed three consecutive 90 degree days
after the autumnal equinox.
