The areas affected include... Lake Huron from Presque Isle Lt. to Sturgeon Point MI 5NM off shore to US/Canadian border... Lake Huron from Sturgeon Point to Alabaster MI 5NM off shore to US/Canadian border... Presque Isle Light to Sturgeon Pt MI Including Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary... Sturgeon Pt to Alabaster MI... At 159 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 13 nm southwest of Alpena to 26 nm northwest of East Tawas, moving northeast at 45 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when these strong thunderstorms reaches the nearshore waters.
