770 FZUS63 KMQT 030128 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 928 PM EDT Thu May 2 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A 29.7 inch low pressure in the Upper Mississippi Valley will drag a 29.8 inch trough across Lake Superior tonight before wandering northeast over Ontario and deepening to 29.6 inches on Friday. A weak 30.0 inch trough pivots across the lake on Saturday ahead of ridging that builds to 30.1 inches by Saturday evening; this ridging persists through Sunday. Ridging shifts east early next week as a broad 29.2 inch low pressure develops on the Northern Plains on Monday. A strong pressure gradient over western Lake Superior begins to setup Tuesday morning as the 29.2 inch low center pushes eastward against 30.0 inch ridging over far northern Ontario.
