THE WARM WEATHER THAT HAD BUILT INTO THE AREA AT THE END OF JUNE
CONTINUED INTO THE FIRST WEEK OF JULY WITH SEVERAL DAYS IN THE 80S.
BUT A SHIFT IN THE WEATHER PATTERN BROUGHT COOL, DAMP WEATHER FOR
SEVERAL DAYS DURING THE SECOND WEEK OF JULY. FOR 4 STRAIGHT DAYS THE
TEMPERATURE DID NOT RISE ABOVE 65 DEGREES FROM THE 7TH THROUGH THE
10TH. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 60 DEGREES ON JULY 9 WAS THE COOLEST
JULY HIGH TEMPERATURE SINCE 2009. WARM WEATHER WAS QUICK TO RETURN
AND BY THE 22ND THE TEMPERATURE ROSE ALL THE WAY TO 91 DEGREES, THE
HOTTEST OF THE YEAR SO FAR. WARM TEMPERATURES WERE COMMON WITH
OCCASIONAL THUNDERSTORMS FOR THE LAST HALF OF THE MONTH.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 70.7 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.2
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST JULY WAS IN 1952 WHEN THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS 75.0 DEGREES. THE COOLEST WAS 1962 AT 64.7 DEGREES.

A TOTAL OF 1.96 INCHES OF RAIN FELL WHICH WAS 1.46 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL. THE HEAVIEST RAIN WAS ON JULY 1 AND 2 WHEN 0.42 INCHES FELL.
THE DRIEST JULY WAS IN 1989 WHEN ONLY 0.45 INCHES WAS RECORDED. THE
WETTEST WAS 8.67 INCHES IN 1996.
