FEBRUARY BEGAN WITH ALTERNATING PERIODS OF WARMER AND COOLER
WEATHER, BUT A SHARP TREND TOWARD COLDER AND SNOWIER WEATHER BEGAN
IN THE SECOND WEEK OF THE MONTH. SNOW WAS OBSERVED ON 11 STRAIGHT
DAYS FROM FEBRUARY 6 THROUGH 16. BUT THE PATTERN BEGAN TO CHANGE
AGAIN WITH WARMER WEATHER BUILDING THROUGH THE LAST HALF OF THE
MONTH. THE TEMPERATURE TOPPED 50 DEGREES FOR 4 STRAIGHT DAYS FROM
FEBRUARY 22 TO 25.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 26.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 3.3
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND TIED FOR THE TENTH WARMEST FEBRUARY ON
RECORD. THE WARMEST FEBRUARY WAS IN 1981 WHEN THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS 33.2 DEGREES. THE COLDEST WAS ONLY 10.2 DEGREES IN
2015.

A TOTAL OF 3.74 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 1.31 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL AND THE WETTEST FEBRUARY SINCE 2010. THE HEAVIEST
PRECIPITATION FELL ON THE 12TH AND 13TH WHEN 1.98 INCHES OF LIQUID
EQUIVALENT PRECIPITATION FELL. THE WETTEST FEBRUARY WAS IN 1970 WHEN
6.03 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED. THE DRIEST WAS IN 1987
WITH ONLY 0.32 INCHES.
