...MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL DIMINISHING OVER WESTERN AND CENTRAL
UPPER MICHIGAN THIS EVENING...

.A STRONG EARLY FALL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVING INTO NORTHERN LAKE
MICHIGAN WILL CONTINUE NORTHEAST THROUGH NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN
EARLY THIS EVENING...AND THEN INTO SOUTHWEST QUEBEC BY DAYBREAK
THURSDAY. THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS MOVING NORTHEAST OUT OF UPPER
MICHIGAN...WITH LIGHTER RAIN SHOWERS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE
NIGHT. SINCE THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION IS MOVING OUT OF THE
REGION...ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL GENERALLY BE UNDER THREE
QUARTERS OF AN INCH. RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE EXCEEDED TWO INCHES FOR
MANY LOCATIONS IN UPPER MICHIGAN...WHICH WILL CAUSE SMALLER CREEKS
AND STREAMS TO STEADILY RISE TONIGHT BEFORE FALLING TOMORROW AS
THE RAIN COMES TO AN END. POOR DRAINAGE AREAS MAY SEE PONDING OF
WATER LINGERING THROUGH THE NIGHT.

CANCELLED. THE HEAVIEST RAIN HAS MOVED OUT OF THE AREA...BUT RUNOFF
FROM THE RAIN TODAY MAY STILL LEAD TO HIGHER STREAM LEVELS AND
LINGERING PONDING ON ROADWAYS AND LOW LYING AREAS.

EVENING...

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN AND WESTERN UPPER
  MICHIGAN...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN CENTRAL UPPER
  MICHIGAN...ALGER...BARAGA AND MARQUETTE. IN WESTERN UPPER
  MICHIGAN...GOGEBIC...KEWEENAW...NORTHERN HOUGHTON...ONTONAGON
  AND SOUTHERN HOUGHTON.

* UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ THIS EVENING

* RAINFALL AMOUNTS THROUGH 4 PM TODAY RANGE FROM 1.5 TO 3.0 INCHES
  OVER MUCH OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN.

* WITH THE HEAVIEST RAIN MOVING OUT OF THE AREA...LAKE EFFECT RAIN
  WILL BEGIN TO TAKE OVER TONIGHT AND LEAD TO LIGHTER RAINFALL
  AMOUNTS...GENERALLY LESS THAN 0.75 INCH.

* DUE TO THE RAINFALL FROM TODAY...RUNOFF MAY STILL LEAD TO RIVERS
  AND STREAMS RISING TO NEAR BANKFULL. IN ADDITION...PONDING OF WATER
  IS EXPECTED IN LOW LYING OR POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
